Sapera Vision Software Edition 2021-02 for machine vision applications

Sapera™ Vision Software provides image acquisition, control, image processing and artificial intelligence functions to design, develop and deploy high-performance machine vision applications.

Sapera Software is designed for a broad range of applications, from precision metrology to pharmaceutical packaging. With an easy-to-use user interface, Sapera provides a suite of tools that can be readily applied to a multitude of automated inspection tasks, such as positioning, measuring, identification and flaw detection.

Sapera LT

Sapera LT is an image acquisition and control software development toolkit (SDK) for Teledyne Dalsa's 2D/3D cameras and frame grabbers. Hardware independent in nature, Sapera LT offers a rich development ecosystem for machine vision OEMs and system integrators. Sapera LT supports image acquisition from cameras and frame grabbers based on standards including 2D/3D GigE Vision™, CameraLink®, CameraLink HS™, CoaXpress®, and USB3 Vision.

Sapera Processing

Sapera Processing is the cornerstone of the overall Sapera Vision Software platform. It provides a suite of image processing and artificial intelligence functions which include the following:
Basic image processing primitives such as filtering, morphology, geometry and point-to-point operations.
Image analysis tools like bar-code reading/grading, pattern matching, OCR, colour analysis, camera calibration for lens distortion correction, 2D/3D measurement and blob analysis.
Artificial intelligence (AI) inference based on models imported from AstrocyteTM training tool.
3D processing, analysis and measurement functions to operate on data from Z-Trak 3D sensor or any third-party 3D device.

Astrocyte

Based on artificial intelligence, Astrocyte is designed to train neural networks on 2D images for a wide variety of applications. With an interface that delivers impressive flexibility, users can use their own image samples to train neural networks for the purpose of unique object detection/classification, noise reduction and segmentation.

Noise Reduction

Noise reduction intends to deliver a higher-quality image from its original state. It is an important component in applications such as digital photography, medical image analysis, remote sensing, surveillance and digital entertainment.

Segmentation

Image segmentation is important component in computer vision and is used for defect sorting/qualification, food sorting, shape analysis, etc. Image segmentation involves dividing input image into segments to simplify image analysis.

Object Detection

Object Detection involves identifying one or more objects of interest in an image. Object Detection is used to solve problems like presence detection, object tracking, defect localisation and sorting, etc.

Object Classification

Classification involves predicting which class an item belongs to. Classification is used to solve problems like defect identification, character recognition, presence detection, food sorting, etc.
Anomaly Detection
Anomaly Detection is the identification of rare occurrences, items or events of concern due to their differing characteristics from majority of the processed data. Anomaly Detection is a binary classifier dedicated to identifying good and bad samples. Unlike regular classification Anomaly Detection can train on unbalanced datasets (i.e. large number of good samples and small number of bad samples). Anomaly Detection is used on any application involving identification of defects on a surface or scene.
