Vision Research's Phantom Miro M / L320S digital high-speed camera

Compact, flexible frame rate solution for production and digital media applications
This camera family combines the benefits of high-speed imaging with the resolution, speed and workflow possibilities of professional HD camera systems. AVailable in three models, M320S, the rugged R320S and the full-featured LC320S which includes a flip-out LCD touch screen for on-camera monitoring and controls.

Small, lightweight but rugged, the Phantom Miro M/R/LC320S high-speed camera has advanced features previously only available in more-costly cameras. Easy to learn and to use, the camera includes HD-SDI for advanced monitoring and workflow possibilities and addresses applications in a wide variety of industries - the R-Series body style adding a rugged, high-g rated camera to the Miro family.

The 2-megapixel camera with 3.2 Gigapixels/second (Gpx/s) throughput produces 1380 fps at 1920 x 1200, or over 1500 fps at 1920 x 1080 and uses micro lenses on its custom-designed CMOS sensor with 10 µm pixel pitch to achieve great light sensitivity. The combination of all its features, together with 12-bit pixel depth, produce excellent image quality. All cameras are delivered with a rechargeable battery and a CineFlash system. When used together with the Phantom RCU (see below), the camera can be mounted remotely and all recording remains conveniently self-contained.

The Miro LC-series supports four lens mounts: F-, C-, PL- or EOS. EOS mounts and allows the use of Canon EF and EF-S automated lenses. Adjust lens aperture and focus either on-camera, or remotely using a Remote Control Unit or Phantom Camera Control software.

Workflow and storage
• Record directly to up to 12 GB of internal memory and preview immediately by playing back over HD-SDI or Gb Ethernet.
• Save the shot by editing and transferring to the Phantom CineFlash drive OR
• Record the HD-SDI playback to a separate device
• Re-arm the camera ready for the next shot

Phantom CineFlash
Phantom Remote Control Unit

The Miro LC-Series camera is compatible with Vision Research’s unique CineFlash storage technology.

These removable, non-volatile storage devices slide into the camera body save raw cine files quickly from the camera's memory without the need for time-consuming and costly downloads.

The CineFlash module can be removed and inserted into the docking station connected to a computer making the cines immediately available on the computer. The cines can also be transferred from the camera to a computer and the images can be edited using the Phantom Camera Control software. 120GB CineFlash and dock are standard; 240GB optional.

The small, lightweight, touch-screen,hand-held device controls the Phantom digital high-speed camera as well as a providing a video monitor all in one package.

The RCU supports the entire high-speed imaging workflow. Set up the camera, trigger the shot, view the cine on the LCD screen, trim to the frames of interest, and save the result to a CineMag without ever touching the camera

The Phantom Break-Out Box allows any v-Series camera to connect to our Remote Control Unit. And, if you have a Phantom HD or Phantom 65 camera, the RCU can connect directly into your camera's remote port. The optional industrial Bluetooth connectivity gives you the freedom to control the camera wirelessly.

Applications: The Miro M/R/LC320S has application in two areas of industry:

Science/Engineering applications
Scientists and engineers can take advantage of the 3.2 Gpx/s throughput, precise timing, camera synchronization, flexible triggering, excellent light sensitivity, and many other advanced features to see what the human eye can't see. Applications ranging from animal studies to PIV to product characterization are now possible using this accessible camera.

Entertainment/production applications
Cinematographers and media artists now have access to a camera based on the Academy Award winning technology of the Phantom Flex for TV and new media applications.
