The RT 800 series provides control of LED lighting for machine vision
applications and includes the power regulation, intensity control, timing
and triggering functions required for machine vision systems. The RT 800
series also incorporates two Gardasoft innovations - SafePower®
and SafeSense® technologies
What advantages does SafePower provide?
SafePower allows much greater flexibility in selection of the DC power
supply used and works automatically without configuration or other user
input. No heat sinking is required and the output voltage is not limited
to the supply voltage. Installation and implementation are much simpler
as there is no need to mount the controller onto a heat sink as SafePower
automatically minimizes the heat generated for continuous, pulsed and
switched operation.
What advantages does SafeSense provide?
Using SafeSense technology, allows the user to overdriveLED lights while
protecting the them from damage by ensuring that the high current pulses
are regulated in terms of pulse width timing and frequency, obtaining
the maximum light possible for the application.
Driving the LEDs with a constant current source allows for very precise
overdriving and SafeSense ensures that the pulse width and duty cycle
are kept within safe working limits. The end result is that much more
light is gained. SafePower® now allows the user to overdrive the lights
without having to increase the input power supply voltage, making implementation
and system integration more simple.
In addition, SafePower removes the restriction on the output voltage being
less than the input voltage and will step-up the voltage as needed to
drive or overdrive the lighting, up to a limit of 48V.
Output channels
The RT800 controller range offers eight output channels which are all
independently controlled. Each of the eight output channels can be individually
configured to output continuously; or to output pulses based on an external
trigger signal or internal timer. These controllers allow pulse width
control down to 1µS resolution.
Software
The RT820 / RT860 models can be quickly configured using free, downloadable
software. For Ethernet enabled RT820 range, access to the controller is
via internet browser by using the IP address for the controller in a web
browser to gain full access to all of the parameters.
If a third-party software package is preferred, the RT800 range has a
simple command set allowing easy communication.
As with all Gardasoft products, all the settings are stored in non-volatile
memory, and it will retain these settings even when the Ethernet connection
is disconnected.
Special function of the RT820
Leveraging the advantages of Ethernet technology (fast, long-distance
and standardised), the RT820 acts as a miniature web server and can be
controlled by image processing software on a remote PC . The web browser
can be used to access the RT820's internal web pages allowing status to
be viewed and parameters to be changed.
