Machine Vision software is GigE Vision and Genicam compliant - Common Vision Blox

CVB machine vision softwareCVB Machine Vision software

The latest release of CVB Machine Vision software library v 9.0.2 has proven its leading performance and reliability after being independently tested by leading hardware manufacturers. Based on its own GigE Vision driver CVB v 9.0.2 offers the most complete implementation of GenICam worldwide! The new release brings new feature improvements such as CVB's Shapefinder, driver support and features for leading imaging manufacturers. A special grid control provides easy access to all the camera's options without the need for complex development in any of the supported programming languages.

Common Vision Blox is an open architecture hardware independent toolkit that supports both PC and embedded smart camera technology. It is acclaimed internationally as having the widest support for cameras and grabbers. It supports classical programming via compilers as well as more modern programming using graphical user interface tools.

CVB is the Machine Vision software library with several very sophisticated and unique tools as well as all the standard vision functionality. One example of the high-end CVB tools is the Manto Artificial Intelligence tool that can be trained to recognise objects, scenes, situations that are impossible to detect reliably with standard pattern tools. Stemmer Imaging give several examples such as the ability to detect whether a face is male or female, to recognise human facial expressions that denote emotions such as happiness, sadness, anger etc. A more practically applied example is the ability to detect the make and model of car on a highway. Manto can be applied to applications where conventional pattern tools do not work.

Some of the other advanced tools CVB has are:

  • Search and read
  • Measure
  • Surface inspection
  • Colour processing
  • Image preprocessing
  • Image capture
  • Control of hardware components

CVB machine vision softwareThe new version of CVB Shapefinder pattern tool offers an improved graphical feedback for search results and the additional features are an invaluable help. When optimizing the parameter settings it is now possible to save all the parameters from the Shapefinder teach program thus greatly enhancing the training phase.

This new machine vision software release also offers a much improved driver for Allied Vision Technology's Firewire cameras (Marlin, Dolphin, Oscar, Guppy, Pikeand Stingray). In addition to the standard IEEE1394 modes CVB also allows access to special features through the flexible Format 7 function. The new driver offers extended error reporting features and gives comprehensive feedback about any lost data during the image transfer process. In addition CVB v9.0.2 also includes a new driver for the new Dalsa X64 XCELERA frame grabber board so that machine vision users can take full advantage of this new acquisition technology.

To strengthen the support that CVB machine vision software already offers for the widest range of compilers in the market, some useful Wizards have been added for the Microsoft .NET-Languages making CVB the first vision development environment to offer wizards for VB.Net, VC.Net and C#.Net.

A further improvement is the CVB display speed. It has been further enhanced by almost 50% which raises the transfer rate from memory into the display from 80 MB/s to 120 MB/s.

Another addition is the new file format which enables the user to load a list of images from hard disk or via a network. Particularly interesting is the new emulator function that allows you to test your application by running a continuous simulation using these images to mimic the action of a real frame grabber. The internal pixel lists have been reworked and optimized resulting in a significant overall performance increase in all tools and functions that use these lists.

You can download CVB v 9.0.2 and the Service Pack at no cost from the CVB web site at www.commonvisionblox.com from the new download section (menu item "Service"). All that is required is an existing installation of Common Vision Blox 9.0 and it will automatically update the present components.
