Direct to Display Camera

AESXGA-080V

The AESXGA-080V is an extremely simple ‘XGA output’ colour camera which can be used purely for visualization. This state-of-the-art camera is unique in the market in that it connects directly to a TFT or similar monitor and displays a high resolution digital flicker-free image. There is no requirement for a computer interface, grabbers, adapters or any other intermediate hardware.

The AESXGA-080V is a 1/2.5" progressive scan CCD camera suitable for a very wide range of image display applications. With 1024 x 767 pixel resolution it outputs images at 60 frames per second. The 5.2 x 5.2µm pixel size ensures high sensitivity. It outputs 24 bit true colour images which are clear, sensitive and sharp.

A built in cross hair generator enables accurate alignment, making it an inexpensive and elegant real-time imaging system for a host of applications. The new XGA camera is a welcome alternative to the increasingly complex and sophisticated cameras currently available. By simply powering the camera and plugging it into your standard low cost computer monitor you can view images live in high quality format. It is fully compatible with a wide range of monitors, including CRT computer monitors and the latest LCD and plasma displays operating in the standard 4:3 or newest widescreen 16:9 formats.

Featuring RGB and gain control and ‘HD’ quality imaging, it is ideally suited to applications requiring monitoring by a human operator such as product/process inspection, vehicle/aircraft control, medical imaging and many more. Since no PC is required there are no mechanical or software issues and less space is required.

In the past for direct display applications a composite analog camera was plugged into a video monitor. These cameras produce relatively low quality PAL interlaced images that suffer flicker and the analog monitors required prove to be quite expensive. The AESXGA-080V high resolution sensor on the other hand provides stable colour images that far surpass standard analog PAL cameras ata cost effective price.

The AESXGA-080V has a small form factor of 70mm×52mm×51mm, and so can be used in confined spaces. It can be used with C- mount lenses which are readily available in all focal lengths and are inexpensive. The camera operates on a 5V DC, 350mA power supply.

The controls on the back of the camera make it flexible for use in different conditions. Three potentiometers allow the colour balance to be adjusted and fixed. Gain can also be controlled via a potentiometer. Four DIP switches control black or white crosshair overlay, high sensitivity mode (for applications where low light levels prevail and image quality cannot be compromised) and to fix the RGB settings. It is supplied ‘ready to go’, complete with power supply.

The AESXGA-080V camera can be used in a very wide range of applications. Some of these include:

  • Parts visual inspection
  • Packaging visual inspection
  • Registration alignment in Printing
  • Microscope display
  • Teaching Aid
  • Replacement for data projector
  • Airport Baggage conveyor display
  • Lecture Theatre displays
