What is different about the JAI AD-080GE camera?

.
Designed for a variety of applications where extended spectral imaging is required, simultaneous visible and near-infrared capture is now possible using JAI's multi-spectral AD-080GE camera with a single lens. While multi-spectral imaging has, for some time, provided benefits to the machine vision industry, the traditional two-camera solution has been costly, difficult to deploy and not capable of providing perfect pixel correlation in different spectral images. These issues have been solved with the launch of the AD-080GE single-lens, 2CCD camera which provides simultaneous and perfectly aligned images of both visible and near-infrared light spectra at a competitive price.

The technology behind the AD-080GE is a specific manufacturing process developed by JAI which enables high-precision bonding of image sensors onto the customized prism optics, delivering an industrial-grade, yet cost-effective multi-spectral 2CCD solution.

The prism inside the camera splits the light into two channels: the first channel having a Bayer mosaic colour sensor that captures visible light (the Red, Green and Blue bands of conventional imaging) while the second channel has a monochrome sensor for capturing NIR light. One of the useful properties of the NIR channel is that it "can see" below the surface of organic and other materials to detect imperfections that the human eye can't see. The visible channel for example inspectsprint on the surface of a package, while the NIR channel inspects the contents.

The AD-080GE aligns the visible and NIR images with micro-pixel accuracy; a level of precision that is not possible with two separate cameras and this alignment remains stable throughout the lifetime of the camera.

What are the key features of the AD-080GE camera?
**
2-CCD 1/3" progressive-scan sensors mounted on an optical prism
** GigE vision interface for long cabling

** Two GigE outputs for user-choice of single-cable operation or separate cables for each channel
** Separate gain and exposure setting for each channel for optimisation of the signal-to-noise ratio
** Seamless integration with GigE Vision interface
** Many built-in, pre-processing functions some of which are: blemish compensation, shading correction, Bayer to RGB interpolation
** Separate exposure times per channel allow mutual adjustment without changes in gain, maintaining a consistent signal-to-noise ratio.

How can I use the AD-080GE camera?
Created for use where extended spectral imaging is desired, the AD-080GE can be deployed in a number of environments and situations, for example:
** inspection of blister packs or other plastic film containers where one channel captures the surface and the other inspects the contents
** traffic management/enforcement
** print inspection of banknotes, passports and tickets
** electronic board inspection
** surface inspection of textiles
** fruit and vegetable inspection where the visible spectrum inspects surface colourisation while the NIR channel inspects below revealing possible, bruising or decay
