Why multi-sensor CCD and CMOS?
For high-speed applications such as circuit and electronic/mechanical parts inspection, food/fruit sorting, printing and other applications, JAI has designed a family of powerful prism-based colour line scan cameras that utilize 3CCD, 3CMOS and 4CCD technology.

Advantages of prism-technology
These cameras feature precisely-aligned image sensors to produce the highest possible colour fidelity in combination with a high line rate. Because JAI prism-based design has a common optical plane for all sensors, it is less complex to set up than typical tri-linear cameras, and less likely to have problems with colour registration or parallax effects. This enables it to be used for a wide variety of applications, including those where the surface needs to be viewed at an angle other than perpendicular.

Typical of JAI’s multi-imager colour cameras, the dichroic coatings on the prism boundaries provide steep spectral curves, which minimize the colour “crosstalk” and thereby increase the colour precision when compared to tri-linear or dual-line colour solutions. These hard dichroic coatings also don’t suffer the degradation of the soft polymer dye filters on tri-linear and dual-line sensors, providing accurate colour performance over a longer product lifespan.

The sub-pixel sensor alignment delivers precise colour values for each pixel, making the camera ideal for web-based inspections where accurate colour information is required.

More benefits of prism technology
Jai's prism technology is ideal for complex vision system applications where:
** the material being inspected isn't flat
** the material being inspected consists of cylindrical, moving objects
** the camera needs to be positioned off-axis

About the cameras
Boasting all the benefits of multi-sensor prism technology, JAI have launched two new colour line scan cameras:
LQ-050CL: a 4-CCD RGB/NIR line scan camera with 4 x 512 pixels and scan rates up to 70922 lines/second
LT-200CL: a 3-CMOS RGB Line Scan camera with 3 x 2048 pixels and scan rates up to 31446 lines/second

About the LQ-050CL
The LQ-050CL is a 4CCD line scan camera using four 512 pixel line sensors mounted on a prism, for the R, G, B and NIR channels.

Operating with a 40MHz pixel clock, the camera produces 70 922 lines per second and outputs data in 4 x 8 bits or 4 x 10 bits format via CameraLink interface.

Accepting either an M52 or F-mount lens, the LQ-050CL is suitable for applications such as the inspection of:
** fruits and vegetables
**circuit boards or electronic/mechanical parts
as the NIR component can image scratches or blemishes unable to be seen in RGB. NIR also provides some sub-surface imaging which make it ideal for fruit and vegetable inspection. Another application for NIR is its ability to "see through" some inks and so enables this camera to inspect the label of a plastic wrapped product and simultaneously view and inspect the contents.

About the LT-200CL
The LT-200CL is a 3-CMOS line scan camera using three 2048 pixel line sensors mounted on a prism, for the R, G, B channels.

Operating awith a 80MHz pixel clock, the camera produces 31 446 lines per second and outputs data in 24 bit (3 x 8) in CameraLink base configuration or 30 bit (3 x 10) in CameraLink medium configuration
