Fast and responsive:
Teledyne DALSA's Piranha4 8K colour line scan CMOS camera

Designed for:
• Flat-panel display inspection
• Printing inspection
• High performance document scanning
• Electronics
• High-throughput applications
• Film inspection

The Piranha4 8K colour camera is built with features to ease system integration. Precise sensor alignment across X/Y/Z axes allows reliable, optimized performance in multi-camera systems, while an advanced GenICam compliant user interface makes controlling camera parameters a user-friendly experience. With line rates up to 50 kHz and 8k resolution, the Piranha4 8k colour camera inspects and detects with unrivalled precision, speed and responsivity, taking machine vision to the next level.

Based on Teledyne DALSA's unique line scan CMOS sensor architecture which minimizes spectral and spatial crosstalk, this new dual line scan camera provides outstanding signal-to-noise for high-speed imaging. It offers low read noise and high full well capacity, resulting in a better dynamic range for demanding applications.

Programmability features of the Piranha4 8k colour camera include exposure control, gain setting, flat field correction, white balance, and color correction. Special algorithms allow defocusing capability in flat field correction and white balancing without the need to adjust the optical lens. In addition, an advanced GenICam™ compliant interface makes the camera easier to setup, control, and integrate.

The Piranha4 8K colour's sensor arranges red and blue color pixels alternating in one line and all the green pixels in the other line with no spacing between the lines (see illustration right). This unique design reduces colour crosstalk by limiting the number of locations where adjacent pixels are red/green or green blue. Red and Green filters overlap spectrally as do Green and Blue. By reducing the occurences these colours are next to each spatially, the designers have improved the colour image quality. The camera offers several colour output format options, including RGB, RG/BG or G only, to meet different imaging requirements.
