Maximising
and environmental and financial benefits to you through recycling
Electronic
equipment, with its rapid-up-date culture, is not usually thought
of as being recyclable even though their productive life may not
be entirely over.
In Australia, during the 2008 - 2009 period, recycling organisations
reported having recycled 26.3 million tonnes of discarded commodities,
representing 44% of total refuse collected. Vision Research plans
to increase this percentage, modestly, with the launch of their
Phantom recycling initiative.
The Vision Research Way
With the understanding that electronic resources are made from
valuable resources and materials, including metals, plastics and
glass, all of which require energy to mine and manufacture, and
with the intention of increasing people's awareness of electronic
recycling programmes, Vision Research created their own high-speed
camera recycling programme for their high-speed cameras.
How does the programme work?
Aimed at providing the opportunity to trade in older cameras for
the latest models, Vision Research will offer clients with discontinued
models the option of returning their
old cameras for recycling to Vision Research, in return for a
5% credit on a new camera (the 5% credit can run into many thousands
of dollars).
Vision Research will then break down the high-speed camera into
parts and either reuse or recycle the components in an environmentally-friendly
manner.
How you benefit
Apart from the benefits of contributing to a recycling programme,
you have the opportunity of purchasing an up-to-date model at
a reduced cost, so, if you have an unused Vision Research camera,
gain two benefits by returning the camera to us.
