Vimba is Allied Vision's future-proof, platform-independent SDK for all their cameras with GigE Vision and FireWire (IEEE 1394) interface. Version 1.3 is their new release.

Vimba allows programming in C, C++ or .NET and it also allows use of the camera with the user's preferred software. If Gen\ICam-compliant 3rd-party software is used, that software will automatically find and connect with Vimba's transport layers.

Linux on standard PCs based on Intel-compatible 32- and 64-bit as well as ARMv7 processors. Currently, only the GigE version transport layer is available. Tested distributions: Fedora 17; Debian 6.0.7, Ubuntu 12.4

Vimba 1.3 also supports OpenMP which nearly utilises the full capabilities of multiprocessor systems to speed up image conversions.

Vimba 1.3 is GenICam compliant and compatible with all major image-processing libraries.
