iDS NXT Ocean: A simplified Artificial Intelligence workflow experience

The iDS NXT Ocean is an all-in-one package that provides you with everything you need to create your own AI inference camera, it significantly simplifies the workflow related to training and running neural networks.

Typically, any industrial camera can be used for applications that rely on the identification of an object with unique characteristics. However, this requires a PC connection, an image processing software with predetermined rules and a programmer who codes and maintains these rules. For example on a packaging line with an assortment of several varieties of a similar object, the inspection system will need to ensure quality control is maintained. This can be an arduous process that is time consuming and extremely costly.

The IDS NXT Ocean package possesses all of the tools and components required to create, train and run a neural network. It includes an AI hardware core which allows inference tasks to be solved directly on the camera. Subsequently, users with limited knowledge in AI training, camera programming and Deep Learning can get started with AI based image processing much more easily than what was previously possible.

The NXT Ocean package includes a web application called iDS NXT Lighthouse which offers an intuitive operation that makes it possible to classify objects in just a few steps:

1) Load sample images into the AI training software and label the target objects in each image as acceptable or unacceptable. This allows the AI to learn from the knowledge of your application.

2) Then launch the fully automatic training of your neural network. Once the training process is completed, you’ll receive a notification.

3) The next step is to load the neural network inference model into your camera.
