The Phantom v2640 is an integral member of the Phantom Ultrahigh-Speed
family of cameras and has incredible image quality at high speeds
with a crisp 4MP sensor and the lowest noise rating of any Phantom
camera at 7.2e-.
The Phantom v2640 is the fastest 4 Megapixel camera available
at-market and is the most sensitive camera in its class. At its
full resolution of 2048 x 1952 the v2640 runs at 4,855 fps, it
can also reach up to 144,970 fps at reduced resolutions. The v2640
also offers Binning mode which makes it capable of reaching speeds
of up to 25,030 fps at 1024 x 976 and the FAST* option allows
it to access 142ns minimum exposure.
The Phantom v2640 also offers the highest dynamic range at 64
dB of any Phantom camera that uses the global shutter standard.
These models leverage Correlated Double Sampling (CDS) for low
noise and high dynamic range operation that can be switched off
for higher throughput. CDS creates clean images in dark regions,
similarly Bright Field Mode increases the Full Well thus creating
cleaner images in bright conditions.
The v2640 is compatible with the Phantom CineMag IV and V media
storage systems and has 10Gb Ethernet as a standard inclusion.
Both tools aid in manipulating, storing, and transferring the
large amounts of data that come with extreme imaging.

Typical
Applications
Ballistics
research
Due
to the v2640 light sensitivity and high frame rates, it is perfect
for ballistics e.g gunshot analysis or explosives etc.
Combustion
analysis
Combustion
applications often have unique difficulties that need to be overcome.
Aside from being exceptionally fast events they often have lighting
issues as they quickly fluctuate between being very dark and very
bright. Phantom cameras have features that aid researchers in dealing
with these issues.
Droplet
analysis
Particle
Image Velocimetry (PIV) or droplet analysis, is a research method
that allows scientists to observe the flow of air, water, and other
transparent elements. Phantom cameras are equipped with high-resolution
sensors to make particle tracking simple.
