AisaDUAL: Combining the aisaEAGLE and aisaHAWK sensors in one system
for simultaneous acquisition of VNIR and SWIR data

SPECIM's AISA systems are ruggedised spectral imaging solutions dedicated to airborne, defence and other remote sensing applications, producing high-quality hyperspectral images, where each singly measured spectrum has precise, calibrated ground coordinates. The systems cover VNIR, SWIR and LWIR spectral ranges. All AISA sensors can also be used for ground-based hyperspectral imaging.

The AisaDUAL system includes integrated:
• The AisaEAGLE and Aisa HAWK sensors
• High-performance GPS / IMU sensor
• Data acquisition and power unit with user-friendly interface and image acquisition software
• CaliGeoPro software for pre-processing

AisaDUAL
The AisaDUAL is a full, ready-to-use, compact system that combines the aisaEAGLE and aisaHAWK sensors in a dual sensor bracket mount and provides an economic imaging tool for remote sensing and research applications needing to collect a full imaging data from 400 nm to 2 500 nm.

Easy to install in a small aircraft, the sensor assembly requires a single hole in the aircraft and fits on a standard stabilized camera mount. In addition, there are several adapter choices for the most common commercially available gyrostabilised camera mounts.

How the sensors work
In the dual sensor assembly, the AisaHAWK sensor can be aligned with AisaEAGLE to make both sensors to look at the same swath on the ground. Also, the AisaHAWK fore lens is adjustable to match the SWIR ground pixel size to that in VNIR.

AisaDUAL sensor makes a high performance hyperspectral imaging system, when integrated with an AISA data acquisition computer, RSCube software, GPS/IMU sensor and power supply.

Data acquisition options
Option 1 Single computer data acquisition set up - single computer with a dual input frame grabber with both the EAGLE and the HAWK working together and with the GPS/IMU data
Both the VNIR and SWIR data are collected with the same swath width of 320 pixels. The AisaEAGLE sensor data is spatially binned by 2 to provide 512 swath pixels. From these 512 swath pixels, 320 pixels are collected which overlap with the 320 AisaHAWK swath pixels. The VNIR and SWIR data are combined and saved in a single image covering the spectral range of 400 to 2500 nm.

Option 2 Dual computer data acquitisition set up - two, independent computers in a single rack and sharing one keyboard. One computer acquires VNIR and the other SWIR data, simultantously.
This option acquires and saves the full swath from both the VNIR and SWIR sensors with 1024 swath pixels from the AisaEAGLE and 320 swath pixels from the AisaHAWK. Data streams from VNIR and SWIR are saved in separate images and are also processed separately in the CaliGeoPRO software provided.

VNIR and SWIR sensors are triggered to acquire data frames simultaneously with each other and with the GPS/IMU sensor with one computer running in slave mode starting data acquisition into a file simultaneously when acquisition is started on the master computer.

NOTE: Optics can be selected also so that AisaHAWK pixel size is 3 x larger than AisaEAGLE pixel size. In this way, 320 AisaHAWK pixels cover the same area as 960 AisaEAGLE pixels and wider swath can be covered with both sensors.

Data storage
For either of the above options, data is stored in a 200Gb (or larger) hot-swap hard disk during acquisition which is sufficient for around 4 hours of continuous acquisition.
