LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES
WITH THE PHANTOM 65: DESIGNED
FOR CINEMATOGRAPHIC APPLICATIONS
Combining a unique CMOS sensor design with powerful digital technologies
to produce a coveted 65 mm format
Claimed as being not merely a replacement of film or video
with a newer technology but rather as "a
new way of seeing time", the Phantom
65 digital wide screen camera permits the user to experience
control over shots in ways that have not been possible before.
What are some key features of the Phantom
65?
Smart tools
With 10 megapixel resolution, frame rates to 140 frames-per-second, shutter
angle from 1 - 360 degrees and the ability to control frame rates in increments
of 1 frame-per-second, the film maker has an increased variety of tools
from which to choose.
Exposure time is no longer dependant on
the camera's frame rate or limited to a few shutter openings. The Phantom
65 allows the exposure time to be set in increments of one microsecond.
Applying shortened or lengthened exposure times results in achieving a
variety of different visual outcomes. Use the adjustable shutter
control to stop fast action for a sharp image, or to increase
motion blur to soften an image and create a sense of movement.
Instant feedback
Unlike film production, the Phantom 65 provides an immediate view of the
last take allowing the film maker to determine if a scene requires a re-shoot
while the lighting, crew, and characters are still set and ready and therefore
lowering production costs.
Preset aspect ratios
A selection of preset formats for classics 65 mm (2.28:1) cinematography
as well as 2.35:1, 2.21:1 and 1.85:1. User selectable aspect rations can
be set in 8-pixel vertical increments.
CMOS sensor
The CMOS sensor's 14-bit depth provides a dynamic range and colour universe
that delivers images rivaling those obtained with film.
Download and storage
Images can be sent to a removable memory pack such as the 512 GB Phantom
CineMag memory magazine that can hold about 30 minutes of images at 24
fps. There is, of course, a cost saving as storage on film is no longer
necessary.
Images can be downloaded to a disk array either from the CineMag memory's
docking station or directly from the cameras using Gigabit Ethernet and
can be stored in Phantom's raw format, TIFF DPX, uncompressed Quick Time,
AVI and a number of other formats.
