Line Scan Vision Appliance | iPD VA 50

 

The high end series of Dalsa iPD Vision Appliances have been released. Dalsa iPD have created the new Vision Appliance technology with the aim of providing vision systems that are high performance, easy-to-use and cost effective. They will redefine the price/performance/ease-of-use proposition in the automated inspection industry. These compact, robust, high performance devices have everything built-in and so eliminate the need for extra devices such as PLC's for reject control, opto-isolation, laptops for setup and other complementary devices often required by competitive vision systems.

The VA50 provides end users and system integrators with a high performance, compact machine vision solution for line scan and high resolution area scan applications. This product is designed for tasks such as

• cylindrical unwrapping when imaging the surface of a cylindrical product being rotated in front of the camera
• large format imaging for extra high resolutions at a cost effective price
• web applications such as products on a moving conveyor or roll products such as paper, textile and plastic sheet.

The VA50 provides multiple camera inputs that allow you to image and inspect from two different cameras simultaneously. The VA50 will connect to a wide selection of cameralink cameras that can be either area scan or line scan and will support up to 8096 pixel line scan cameras. The VA50 provides the timing Inputs and Outputs for synchronizing the cameras to the speed of the moving part or surface.

The 24V compatible I/O is broken out to removable screw terminal connectors or opto-isolation modules. The VA50 is equipped with standard RS232 serial and Ethernet interfaces for communicating with other automation devices, management systems or connecting into the factory networks. Several popular standard industrial protocols such as Modbus are supported. Setup on the VA50 is done locally with keyboard, mouse, and monitor attached to the unit. All physical connections are located on the VA50 rear panel, with status lights available on the front.

Application setup software is preinstalled and ready to run, thus eliminating installation and revision control problems. For maximum flexibility, the VA50 is supported by our Sherlock inspection software; a powerful and proven tool that has been used in thousands of installations worldwide. Sherlock is "point-and-click" and requires no programming expertise, however allows for a full programming type environment with control loops, variables, subroutines etc. It allows very fast development and so significantly reduces development times and cost. Sherlock's configurable interface allows you to quickly prototype, benchmark and deploy inspection solutions. In addition to its extensive library of preprocessors and machine vision algorithms, Sherlock supports inline scripting, user custom tools and a customizable operator interface.
